We have posted a Health Science position for the high school. This position will be for a new Career and Technical Education program that will allow students to take courses that prepare them for careers in the health field. Student data collected from an interest survey indicated that this is a program in which many of our students have shown interest. Since we recently were looking to fill the automotive program vacancy, we analyzed the numbers, and enrollment had steadily declined. We understand that the automotive field is in high demand across our state, and we plan to revisit the possibility of reopening the program in the future. We are excited about the new opportunities the Health Science program will bring our students.

Thank you Chief Burleson and the Winfield PD for a great job at our Vaping assembly. Chief educated students on the dangers of vaping and other illegal substances as well as the legal aspects. WMS appreciates the partnership we share with the Winfield PD.

Parents and students, this is a reminder that we are no longer funded by the USDA to provide free breakfast/lunchroom for all students. Students may not charge extras in the cafeteria. If you think your student would qualify for a free/reduced meal you can apply online at www.winfield.k12.al.us/applynow or pick up a paper application at your students school. Meals may be paid for online by going to www.paypams.com or they can pay in the cafeteria with cash or a check. There is a $1.95 service fee to pay online. For questions you may call 1-205-487-0228 or email smccaleb@winfield.k12.al.us.

Career tech dual enrollment classes start Monday. If you plan to ride the bus be at the bus pick-up at the high school at 7:25 am Monday morning.

We are excited to announce that Winfield City School students will not be charged admission to any home athletic contest/game this year, excluding playoff games! School spirit is a valuable component of a positive school culture, and we want all of our students to put that Pirate Pride on display by cheering on our student athletes. We hope to see all of you at our first home junior high football game against the Fayette Tigers on Tuesday, August 23 and our first home varsity football game against the Haleyville Lions on Friday, August 26.
Go Pirates!
