We are pleased to welcome Merritt Muck as a 5th-grade teacher at Winfield Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year. She is also going to be an Assistant Track Coach. Miss Muck holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of North Alabama.
Miss Muck has two years of teaching experience at Haleyville Elementary School. She spends her time with her two dogs, Arlo and Mistletoe.
“I am so excited to be coming back to my Alma Mater and having the opportunity to work in the school system that contributed so much to my success,” said Muck “I hope to make a difference in the lives of every student that I encounter in my teaching and coaching career.”
Due to construction, WES car riders in grades K-4 will be picked up in the front of the school today and tomorrow. On Thursday, August 15, 4th grade students will be picked up at their original location, which is beside the track for the rest of the school year.

We are pleased to welcome Brandi Davis as a Counselor at Winfield Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Davis holds a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama.
Davis is in her 20th year in education, and was a teacher for 10 years, along with 6 as a counselor and 3 as an assistant principal.
She is married to Charlie Davis and they have two daughters Lilly Beth and Ella who are students at Winfield City High School.
“I am so excited to be back in the role as the school counselor,” said Davis. “Winfield is an excellent school system.”
“I have heard so many wonderful things about the schools. I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing community. I am also thrilled that my girls will have this educational experience. I am excited about the opportunity to be the school counselor at Winfield Elementary School,” Davis said.
One of the lunch choices for today at WMS Child Nutrition Program is the Chicken Philly Sandwich.

We are pleased to welcome Linley Simmons as Third Grade teacher at Winfield Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Simmons holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama, and a Master’s degree in Library Media from the University of West Alabama (UWA). Mrs. Simmons is pursuing her education Specialist degree in Teacher Leader from UWA.
Linley has 12 years of teaching experience in the Walker County School System.
She is married to Caleb Simmons and they have two children Evie and Cole.
“I have lived in Winfield for eight years and am so excited to teach in this wonderful community,” said Simmons. “I look forward to a great school year!”

We look forward to seeing Grades 1-4 tonight at Open House, an event designed to keep you informed and involved in your child's education! Please enter the building through the front doors. Also, we will begin each session in the auditorium. Mrs. Long will share important information concerning the school year, so please ensure you are attentive. After the presentation, you can visit your student's homeroom teacher in their classroom.
Winfield City Schools Transportation department will have a booth at the elementary, middle and high schools for open house. Stop by and meet the bus drivers and ask any questions you may have for the transportation department.
WES/WMS: All beginning of the year paperwork will be online this year. You will receive a code that is specific to your student to access the online portal at Open House. If you are unable to attend your student's Open House time, you may visit the school tomorrow morning from 8:00-12:00 to receive the code. Also, if you need assistance, laptops will be available.
